Omaggio a Fellini | John Abram

This piece was intended for the millennium, when it seemed everyone was obsessed with counting, but it took longer to make than I anticipated. I had read about Fellini’s habit of having actors count rather than speak dialogue (which would involve the script being finished, something which Fellini apparently was loath to do) and this is particularly noticeable in Amarcord. Barbara Sutherland, the speaker in Omaggio a Fellini counted along with a metronome on every setting between 40 and 60 for one minute, then 7 combinations of these performances were assembled. In addition, each voice takes a different spiral path around the 4 loudspeakers. Being binaural, this is best heard on headphones.
